The time of year has a huge influence on wedding flowers: what is available, how it looks and how it feels in your venue. Working with the season usually gives you fresher flowers and more for your budget.
Spring weddings
Think tulips, ranunculus, anemones, narcissi and blossom: fresh, light and full of movement. Soft pastels and whites work beautifully, but spring can be bright and joyful too.
Summer weddings
Early summer is the time for peonies, followed by sweet peas, garden roses and a huge range of garden flowers. Summer suits loose, abundant, natural designs and outdoor or woodland ceremonies.
Autumn weddings
Dahlias, chrysanthemums, seed heads and grasses bring rich oranges, burgundies and golds. Have a look at the autumn chapel wedding on the weddings page for an example.
Winter weddings
Evergreens, hellebores, amaryllis, berries and dried textures create warm, candlelit arrangements that suit darker, cosier venues.
A few tips
- Get in touch early, especially for popular summer dates.
- Share photos of your venue and colours, but stay open to what is at its best that month.
- All of my wedding work is floral-foam free, using compostable moss bases instead of single-use plastic.
