A few minutes of care when your flowers arrive, and a little attention every couple of days, can add days to the life of a bouquet. Here is what I recommend for every Anthos bouquet.
When your flowers arrive
- Unwrap the bouquet and fill a clean vase with fresh, cool water.
- Trim 2–3cm from each stem at an angle with a sharp knife or scissors, so the stems can drink easily.
- Remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline, as they rot and make the water cloudy.
- Add the flower food if one is included.
Every couple of days
- Change the water completely rather than just topping it up.
- Give the stems a fresh trim each time you change the water.
- Take out any stems that are fading so they do not shorten the life of the rest.
Where to put them
Keep flowers out of direct sunlight and away from radiators, draughts and fruit bowls. Ripening fruit gives off ethylene gas, which makes many flowers age faster.
Boxed in water bouquets
If you chose the boxed-in-water option, the bouquet arrives sitting in its own water and can go straight on display. Check the water level each day and top it up so the stems never dry out.
Every Anthos bouquet is covered by our freshness guarantee. If anything is not right when your flowers arrive, please get in touch.
